Rabbi Tilles: Shalom-Welcome. I'll be with you in a moment. You can start typing your question if you like.

Yvonne: what does "mazal tov" mean

Yvonne: I recently had a friend say mazal tov (spelling?) to me, and I didn't want to sound stupid by asking what she meant...

Rabbi Tilles: It literally means "good fortune" or "good luck" but it is colloquially used in the sense of "congratulations"

Yvonne: oh thanks

Yvonne: I appreciate that

Yvonne: Have a great day
