Can I have a basic check list of supplies needed for the Brit ceremony?

  • A Tallit
  • Bottle of Wine
  • Kiddush cup
  • Pillow
  • Pillowcase (usually white)
  • Blanket for child
  • Diapers (at least 4)
  • Antibiotic cream (Neosporin or Bacitracin, etc.)
  • Gauze (sterile pack of 24 3"x3" individually wrapped)
  • Pacifier (recommended)
  • Printed list of honorees

[Remember to feed the baby (up to one hour prior to the Brit).]

Kiddush
Prayer recited at the beginning of the Sabbath or Holiday meal--both the evening and afternoon meals. This prayer, acknowledging the sanctity of the day, is recited over a cup of wine or grape juice.
Brit
[Lit. Covenant] Circumcision. The act of removing ones foreskin 8 days after birth, perpetuating a covenant with G-d originally established by the Patriarch Abraham.
Tallit
A prayer shawl. A large four-cornered woolen garment with fringes attached to its corners in a specific manner. This garment is worn by males during the morning prayers, fulfilling the Biblical obligation of attaching fringes to four-cornered garments.
