Rabbi Schochet: I hope you are having a GREAT day today:) . . How can I make it even better?

David: hi Rabbi, if I was unable to lay Tefillin in the morning amd I permitted to lay tefillin later in the day?

Rabbi Schochet: yes you certainly should

Rabbi Schochet: and say the Shema with them on.

David: is there a time limit on when I am permitted to lay tefillin

Rabbi Schochet: you should do it in the morning, but if you don't then all day until sunset.

David: why do we lay tefillin mostly in the morning hours?

Rabbi Schochet: we put them on in the morning because we wear them during the morning prayers which are supposed to be prayed in the morning.

David: i see....should I only say the shema when I put them on later in the day?? Or should I say all the other prayers as well

Rabbi Schochet: say the shema, and you can add the Minchah prayer while you are at it.

David: thank you Rabbi!!

Black leather boxes containing small scrolls with passages of the Bible written on them. Every day, aside for Sabbath and Jewish holidays, the adult Jewish male is required to wrap the Tefillin--by means of black leather straps--around the weaker arm and atop the forehead.
Minchah
Afternoon prayer service. One of the three prayers a Jew is obligated to pray every day.
Shema
The most fundamental Jewish prayer, recited twice daily. This prayer, of Biblical origin, professes the belief in G-d's absolute unity.
