There are three opinions in this matter:

1. The yahrtzeit is observed in the second Adar (Beis Yosef). 

2. The Yahrtzeit is observed in the first Adar (Rama)

3. The Yahrtzeit is observed in both Adars (Magen Avrohom).

Consult with your local Halachic authority to determine the accepted practice in your community.
