Rabbi Resnick: Welcome. How can I be of assistance...

Fred: not everyone in my family keeps Kosher, so we buy both kosher and non-kosher meat.

Fred: other day my mom bought kosher meat to make hamburger and froze it.

Fred: so yesterday I took a couple of them and cooked them but I noticed that some red liquid was coming out of the meat

Fred: I realized that some is just water because it was frozen

Fred: and the water could have taken some of the meat color...

Fred: or could that be blood?

Fred: any chance a kasher meat still have some blood? or by any chance someone mixed up the kasher and non-kosher meat?

Rabbi Resnick: no, don't worry. if it had a kosher symbol on it, it's kosher -- this happens often

Rabbi Resnick: it is not blood but juices

Fred: so there's no problem eating that?

Rabbi Resnick: as long as the meat was salted and kosher -- correct

Fred: even if I don't cook it completely?

Fred: I thought they took all the blood out...

Rabbi Resnick: yes, you can even eat it raw (although it might not taste too good :))

Fred: ok then , thanks for the help! :)

Kosher
Literally means "fit." Commonly used to describe foods which are permitted by Jewish dietary laws, but is also used to describe religious articles (such as a Torah scroll or Sukkah) which meet the requirements of Jewish law.
