What are the laws of prayer and Torah reading on the day of a Brit?

At the morning prayers prior to the Brit, the Tachanun supplication is omitted in the presence of the father, Sandek, or the Mohel, even if the Brit will take place at a different time or location.

If the Brit is held on a day that the Torah is read in the synagogue, we honor the father, the Sandek, and the Mohel with receiving an Aliyah to the Torah.

We consider the position of Sandek more honorable than that of the Mohel, giving the Sandek preference in being called up to the Torah. The position of the Sandek is also considered to be propitious for long life and prosperity.

Torah is G–d’s teaching to man. In general terms, we refer to the Five Books of Moses as “The Torah.” But in truth, all Jewish beliefs and laws are part of the Torah.

Sections of the prayers involving confession and asking for forgiveness. Tachanun is omitted from the prayers on the festive days of the Jewish calendar.
Aliyah
Literally means to rise up. Has two popular meanings: 1. Being called up to the Torah scroll and recite the blessings when the Torah is being read. 2. To emigrate to the Holy Land.
Brit
[Lit. Covenant] Circumcision. The act of removing ones foreskin 8 days after birth, perpetuating a covenant with G-d originally established by the Patriarch Abraham.
Mohel
One who performs ritual circumcisions.

The one honored with holding the baby during the circumcision.
