What is the meaning of the Hebrew letters traditionally added after the name of a deceased person?

There are two combinations of Hebrew letters which can be written after the name of a dead person:

Some add the letters Ayin and Hei, which is an acronym for Alav (or Aleha) Hashalom. Meaning: "peace be upon him" (or "her").

Others add the letters Zayin and Lamed, an acronym for Zichrono (or Zichronah) Livrochoh. Meaning: May his (her) memory be a blessing.
