It is important for us to constantly acknowledge and realize how much we owe G-d. After all, whatever we have comes directly from Him, and we all know what we really deserve! Praying daily keeps us from becoming arrogant and self-centered.

It is so important for us to realize that all those occurrences which seem to be "natural phenomena" are actually the hand of G-d. In the back of our mind we all know that G-d controls the sun, moon and all the planets, but how often do we stop to think about it? This is why every morning and evening we make a big deal out of the fact that G-d is the one who constantly creates the light and brings the dark. It is impossible for one who takes his prayers seriously to look at the sun and the moon, at the day and night, as natural happenings. This is one of the main points of prayer, to focus on the fact that everything is controlled directly by G-d.
