Final Word

por Rabbi Shlomo Chein

On the verse from liturgy1, "I have redeemed you from this final [exile] as from the first," the Ben Ish Chai writes that the redemption will come when emphasis is placed on the first Mitzvah of the Torah, "Be fruitful and multiply," and the final mitzvah of the Torah, the composition of a Torah scroll.

Mitzvah
(pl. Mitzvot). A commandment from G-d. Mitzvah also means a connection, for a Jew connects with G–d through fulfilling His commandments.
Torah
Torah is G–d’s teaching to man. In general terms, we refer to the Five Books of Moses as “The Torah.” But in truth, all Jewish beliefs and laws are part of the Torah.
